Our Story

Established in 2003, Nissa’s String Studio is dedicated to fostering a warm, positive, and enriching environment where each student can thrive. Our versatile team of instructors is deeply engaged in the local and regional music scene, ranging from folk rock bands to jazz acts, string quartets, and symphonies. We’re dedicated to guiding students of all ages as they explore and embrace their own unique musical journeys.

As a creative academy, we offer opportunities to explore a variety of styles—from rock & roll to jazz and fiddling—while also guiding students in writing compositions, improvising, and developing their artistic voice.

Our private lessons offer a personalized, engaging experience where students are encouraged to cultivate creativity and find their unique voice in music. At the heart of our approach are technique, artistry, and the joy of making music. We view music as both a physical and mindful art form, where each student presents a fresh challenge and an opportunity for growth.

At Nissa’s, we support and encourage one another in a respectful, professional, and inviting manner. We approach performances and auditions with preparedness and confidence, and we’re constantly growing in knowledge, diversity, warmth, and musical quality.

What sets our Academy apart?

Our Philosophy

At Nissa’s String Academy, music is more than just notes and rhythms—it’s a way to express yourself and grow as a person.

Technique, artistry, and enjoyment are at the heart of our teaching.

We believe music is an athletic, mindful, and spirited activity, unique to each individual.

Our studio fosters a culture of respect, support, and encouragement.

As a community, we approach every performance and audition with professionalism, preparation, and positivity. Together, we are constantly growing in knowledge, diversity, and musical excellence.

"Greetings to you all!  I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you THANK YOU for all of your hard work and dedication!  We had such a wonderful time last night, Grandma Jeri drove 1.5 hours each way to come for [the Winter Recital] and she loved it too!  You run a great studio and we're glad we're a part of it.  Evan has an ease about him that gives Abi confidence, this is a lifelong gift."

"You run a great studio and we're glad we're a part of it."

"We have been sending our children to Nissa's String Studio for 2 years now for piano practice. They have learned piano, in such an encouraging, positive manner. They ENJOY their instructor, they ENJOY going to piano, they ENJOY PRACTICING. They are learning important lessons, about "practice". I am so thankful, we found such a relaxing, and encouraging studio for our children. The prices are competitive, and we have never been disappointed."

Rachelle J.

"Jack’s piano skill level and confidence playing has significantly increased since taking lessons with Jeremy. He played a piece for us last night and we were blown away. Wow!!"

Jenny B.

“I just wanted to tell you again how FUN the performance was tonight.  The band sounds great, I could sit and listen for hours!”

Angie I.

“My son may not be sitting in the first chairs (yet?), but you would not believe what you have done for him. Last year he would not have defined himself as a violin player by any stretch, much less someone who enjoys it. Your enthusiasm is contagious and has made all the difference. Thanks!”

Tammy B.

“Thank you so much for putting on such a WONDERFUL recital!... Congratulations on a job well done. Thank you for the time and dedication you have to your studio and your students. You are a wonderful teacher.  Thank you for making such a difference in Maddie's life, and in turn, ours...”

Angie

"I have a number of students who either have been in your studio/Spitfire Band, and all have said positive things about their experiences with your group(s). I'm just writing to say 'way to go!' to your efforts!"

Sam P.

"I wanted to thank you for all you did to make the recital such a wonderful event. I think we may be able to get the girl to do another after this one. It was colorful, organized and the music was amazing, simply amazing. Thanks again."

Sandie K.

“What a nice recital – all the hard work pays off!  I really enjoyed the music... it is fun to listen to how the kids all progress.  My daughter and I enjoyed some of the beginners and the songs we recognized that she had played.”

Teri

"Thank you for the time and dedication you have to your studio and your students."
