Maddie Ring

Instructor

Violin, Viola, Guitar, Piano

Maddie Ring has been teaching music in a variety of settings for the past four years, with experience ranging from private lessons to leading classrooms and community programs. She studied Music Education with an emphasis in violin and voice at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, where she also completed Suzuki training through the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute. During her time there, Maddie served as the lead collegiate instructor for the One City Strings program and developed a love for connecting music education to students’ personal interests and experiences.

Before returning to Lincoln, Maddie taught K-8 general music on Chicago’s south side and worked with students of all ages at the Old Town School of Folk Music, teaching violin, piano, voice, ukulele, guitar, and fiddle. She is passionate about creating a student-centered learning environment where music feels approachable, relevant, and joyful, whether through classical repertoire, folk tunes, or arranging favorite songs from TV and radio to inspire learning.

Maddie enjoys working with students of all ages but especially loves helping young learners grow their confidence and curiosity through music. She believes learning an instrument is about more than notes, it’s about building self-esteem, creativity, and connection.

When she’s not teaching, Maddie enjoys baking treats for her friends and family and is a proud member of Lincoln’s No Coast Roller Derby team. She currently sings with the Star City Chorus and looks forward to finding more ways to share her music within the Lincoln community.
