Addie Hotchkiss

Instructor

Cello

Addie Hotchkiss has been teaching music for 14 years, with a passion for helping students grow as both musicians and individuals. Her journey with music began at home in Kansas City, where her mom worked as a music director and encouraged her early involvement. It wasn’t until a powerful high school orchestra experience, performing the Firebird Suite, that Addie realized the profound impact music can have, and knew she wanted to share that with others.

Addie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, as well as a Master’s in Cello Performance and a Master’s in String Pedagogy from the University of Louisville. Her teaching style is adaptable and student-focused, meeting learners where they are and working together to build confidence and skills. She especially enjoys teaching middle-level students, helping them bridge the exciting gap between beginner and advanced playing.

In addition to teaching, Addie is an accomplished performer. She plays with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs around the area. She also has extensive experience helping students prepare for auditions and competitions, including JYO, LYS, All-State, and college scholarship auditions.

When she’s not playing or teaching music, Addie stays busy with her six-month-old identical twin boys, Arthur and James!
